CICC held a seminar under the theme of “Digital Economy: Opportunity and Challenge” in Bangkok, Thailand on February 21, 2019. The seminar was co-organized by Ministry of Digital Economy and Society(MDES) of Thailand, with whom CICC keeps a close tie.

At the seminar, Executive Director of CICC gave an opening remark followed by H.E. Mr. Shiro Sadoshima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Thailand extending a guest speech. H.E. Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand gave an opening address and said that digitalization will bring significant benefits and Thailand will tackle issues such as aging society etc. through IT in cooperation with Japan.

From Thai side, Deputy Secretary General of Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission of Thailand gave a presentation on “Digital Economy, Connected: unconnected”. Vice President of Digital Economy Promotion Agency, Thailand gave a presentation on “Digital Economy Promotion: Flagship Initiatives”. From Japanese side, Mr. Hiroshi Yoshida, Deputy Director-General for IT Strategy, Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry made a keynote speech on “Current Policy on Digital Economy”. CICC member companies gave presentations on the following themes;
“Accelerating Digital Transformation through Co-creation with Customers”
by Hitachi Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
“NTT DATA’s Initiative for Trade Platform using Blockchain Technology”
by NTT DATA Corporation
“Advancement of Road Monitoring with Data Analysis” by FUJITSU LIMITED
“Creating Safer and Smarter Cities by Leveraging the Power of IT”
by NEC Corporation (Thailand) Ltd.
Lastly, Chairperson of CICC Steering Committee made a closing remark of the seminar.

Total of 132 participants consists of 119 Thai officials from MDES, ONDE, DEPA, National Statistical Office, Thailand Post, Electronic Transactions Development Agency, Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, National Electronics and Computer Technology Center, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Tourism and Sports,  Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Board of Investment, telecommunications operators, IT companies, Japanese-affiliated companies, and 13 speakers and delegates from Japan.
